We value education at CommonWealth Urban Farms – sharing the knowledge we’ve learned by making mistakes and learning from the community around us. We have several ways for you to get involved in learning with CommonWealth Urban Farms.

CommonWork

A weekly hands-on learning experience every Saturday from 9am-noon. Visit the CommonWork page for more details.

Garden School

Each spring-fall, we offer classes each month with topics for beginning gardeners as well as those who have had their hands in the dirt for years. For our current schedule, visit the Garden School page.

Apprenticeships

In 2017, we launched our apprentice program – apprentices make a 3 month commitment of 8 hours per week of volunteer time. During that time, we’ll dive into helping you learn urban farming through hands-on work. For each new skill and task, we’ll show you how to do it, supervise you while you learn, then give you a chance to demonstrate your skill and eventually teach it others. We want apprentices to learn new skills, and learn them well! Check out more information on our Apprenticeship page. Youth apprenticeships are also available.
